“When we open the doors of opportunity to the younger generation they tend to walk through— especially when the options include good paying jobs that involve challenging projects.”

About Lift & Move USA

Businesses that rely on people with technical skills have faced a shortage of qualified workers in epidemic proportions in recent years. Study after study has documented the skills gap. A number of factors have contributed to the problem. Baby boomers, representing a large number of the most skilled workers, are retiring. In addition, the last few generations of young people were encouraged to pursue bachelor’s degrees over skilled trades, further shrinking the available labor pool.

Workforce development is a priority for Lift & Move USA’s supporting organizations and the companies they represent, which is the impetus behind this program.

Launched in 2015 as a joint industry effort, Lift & Move USA was organized by four industry institutions: Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, Specialized Carriers & Rigging Foundation, National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, and KHL Group.

Today, Lift & Move USA is overseen by a committee reporting to the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports SC&RA member companies.

Authentic Career Exploration

Lift & Move USA promotes industry awareness and provides resources for companies, students, educators and parents.  Lift & Move USA is best known for its live events hosted from 2015 - 2019. These in-person career exploration events were hosted by SC&RA Member Companies on location at their facilities. The hands-on, demonstration focused events expose high school and post-secondary age students to the various skills needed for the jobs and career paths available in crane, rigging, and specialized transportation operations.

Today, with in a post-pandemic climate, the Lift & Move USA program is assisting companies in all of the their workforce development efforts from building relationships with CTE educators, hosting events, and giving classroom presentations. The Workforce Ambassador program is at the forefront of this initiative.
